Evan Jay Newman is a New York based actor, music director, and composer. As a child, he performed in the Broadway productions of Les Miserables and Paul Simon’s ‘The Capeman’, A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden, and was Chip in the first national tour of Beauty and the Beast. As an adult, his recent credits include Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Law & Order SVU, and he is currently performing with the tribute shows Carole’s Kings and High Notes.

While earning his BFA from CAP21 at NYU: Tisch School of the Arts, Evan had the opportunity to assist Broadway composer Andrew Lippa on numerous projects, Alex Lacamoire on High Fidelity, and James Sampliner on Legally Blonde. Since then, he served as Music Director for the national/international tour of Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ and The Simon & Garfunkel Story, as well as Associate Music Director for the national tours of Mamma Mia! and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’. He’s also spent some time as vocal director for Celebrity Cruises.

Evan has contributed original music and lyrics to the Broadway bound musical adaptation of K.L. Going’s novel, Fat Kid Rules the World. Additionally, he has written the music for Lyra: A Dark Fairytale and Spectacle: the Musical! (in which he also stars). Next he will be writing arrangements for Prima Donna’s, a Donna Summer tribute.
